Scholars Bangladesh and Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) jointly in
cooperation with Ministry of Commerce and UN Procurement Division organized a
day-long Workshop on 'How to Do Business with the United Nations & Vendor
Registration' at the DCCI Auditorium on 30 May 2011.
The objective of this workshop was to brief vendors on the procurement activities
(e.g. values, policies, process, buying profile, business opportunities, etc.) of
the United Nations Procurement Division and to register qualified vendors online by
the close of the workshop.
Registration with the United Nations Secretariat begins at the United Nations Global
Marketplace (UNGM).There is NO COST to register and UNGM offers
access to all the UN Procurement Offices of the System. The registration process can
be start from:

To register for a UNGM account, select "Register as a Supplier" under the tab
"Registration" and complete the form to receive user instructions. You will then
receive an email from UNGM containing an activation link. By clicking on the link
you will then receive a second email from UNGM with your User Name and Password.

Step 2- Select Agencies
Select the UN agencies that you wish to do business with. It is recommended to visit
the websites of the various UN agencies to research their buying profiles prior to
selecting agencies. Information on procurement in the UN system can be found on the
Publications page :

Step 3- Agency Questions
Each agency selected will present you with a set of Agency Questions. All
information provided at this step must be uploaded to UNGM in a protected format
such as .PDF; maximum file size allowed is 3.5MB. Download, complete and sign the
Prerequisite for Eligibility form from UNGM and upload the signed
document in the required field.
There are four (4) Levels of Registration which allows companies to
select the level of business activity that best matches their capacity, business
scope and commercial strategy.
LEVEL 1 - Estimated Contract Award less than US $200,000
LEVEL 2 - Estimated Contract Award less than US $1 MILLION
LEVEL 3 - Estimated Contract Award less than US $5 MILLION
LEVEL 4 - Estimated Contract Award US $5 MILLION and Above

Step 13- Product Coding
UN Procurement staff use these codes to search for suppliers for bidding
opportunities. Therefore it is important to select relevant UNCCS codes representing
the goods and/or services you wish to offer to the United Nations. A guide to the
