M E Chowdhury Shameem was born in Dhaka. He studied at Dhaka College, in the English Department of Dhaka University, Charles University in Prague, and the State University of New York, USA. He spent several years in the United States, during which he worked from 1996 to 2004 at IBM Corporation in New York, USA. An IT specialist by profession, Chowdhury is also recognized for his involvement in promoting Bengali culture worldwide.
In 2006, he founded MARS Solutions Limited, an IT/ITES company based in Bangladesh. As the Founder and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MARS Solutions Limited, he has made significant contributions to the IT sectors. In addition, he serves as the Executive Director of MAX Group, a pioneering infrastructure development company in Bangladesh.
Along side his entrepreneurial ventures, Chowdhury is a well-known social worker. Upon his return to Bangladesh in 2004, he launched a campaign to set up the Ethics Club, a lifelong dream, with the goal of promoting an ethical culture in all walks of life in Bangladesh. The club now has units across Bangladesh and conducts educational activities throughout the year. He is also the founder of numerous socio-cultural organizations, including Scholars Bangladesh Society, Center for NRB Foundation, Ethics Club Bangladesh Society, NRB-PBO Club Limited, NRB-PBO Conference Dhaka, NS Publishers, and Former Director, Bangladesh Association of Call Center & Outsourcing (BACCO).
He organized the NRB-PBO Conference in Dhaka in 2005, 2007, and 2009 to connect Non-Resident Bangladeshis and People of Bangladeshi Origin in the country’s development. His untiring efforts for the welfare of Non-Resident Bangladeshis led the government to declare 30th December as Jatio Probashi Dibosh (NRB Day), a National Day of the country. Chowdhury is a globally renowned manga writer and was awarded the Bronze Medal in the 17th International Manga Competition arranged by the Government of Japan in 2023.
